Baku, Azerbaijan, June 16. Flows of foreign direct investments (FDI) to Kyrgyzstan significantly increased in the first quarter of 2022, Trend reports via the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

Foreign direct investments in Kyrgyzstan from January through March 2022 amounted to $278 million, which is 2,5 times more than in the same period of 2021 ($112.1 million).

The bulk of foreign direct investment (about 97 percent) in the reporting period was directed to:

- manufacturing enterprises;

- mining;

- wholesale and retail trade;

- financial intermediation and insurance;

- information and communications.

Meanwhile, among the countries with the most incoming foreign direct investments to Kyrgyzstan were: China (27.1 percent), Canada (11.4 percent), the Netherlands (8.8 percent), and the UK (7.4 percent), and Turkiye (7.2 percent).
