Baku, Azerbaijan, June 18. Retail prices of wheat flour in Kyrgyzstan increased in May 2022, Trend reports with the reference to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) monthly report.
The average retail price of wheat flour in Kyrgyzstan reached 48.6 ($0.6) soms per 1 kg, which is an increase of 24.6 percent compared to the same month of 2021 (39 soms or $0.49).
Wheat flour prices in the subregion's importing countries continued to rise year-on-year, largely due to increasing worldwide export quotations and strong consumer demand, amid concerns about supply shortages.
In addition, reduced wheat output in Kyrgyzstan in 2021, according to the organization, also led to annual price increases throughout the country.
