Tajikistan on Tuesday called for joint efforts by the international community for "more fair, transparent and efficient global economic architecture", Xinhua reported.

The statement came as Akil Akilov, prime minister of Tajikistan, was taking the floor at the Fourth High-Level Dialogue of the UN General Assembly on Financing for Development, a two-day event which kicked off here on Tuesday morning.

"The current financial and economic crisis makes us review the principles of global economic management, by which we were guided in the last decade," he said. "Given the bitter experience of the recent years, the UN member states have to jointly shape more fair, transparent and efficient global economic architecture."

"In this case, all countries should have a guaranteed access to all life sustaining resources, and advanced technologies and sources of development," he said. "It is necessary to develop guarantees that would allow to minimize the risks of reoccurrence of crises similar to the one we are facing today."

"Given the global crisis, it is important to comply with and strengthen the multilaterally agreed and based on rule of law trade regimes of the World Trade Organization," he said. " Tajikistan considers it expedient to implement the measures aimed at development through improvement of a multilateral trade system that takes into account the needs and interests of the developing countries."
