Tajik president made the remarks while addressing the reporters and after singing a joint statement with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Dushanbe, IRNA reported.

President Rahmon described his meeting with President Ahmadinejad as fruitful adding that the main pivot of negotiations was expansion of economic ties between Iran and Tajikistan.

Referring to the fact that Turbine 2 of Sangtude dam will become operational by the end of current year, Tajik president said that Iran and Tajikistan signed a contract for construction of another hydroelectric dam with a capacity of 130 megawatts in Tajikistan.

President Rahmon noted that Tajikistan has paved the way for activities and investment of Iran's private sector in Tajikistan.

"Iranian businessmen, industrialists and farmers can operate in different industrial, agricultural, and mining sectors, as well as setting up textile factories in Tajikistan," he added.

Tajik president noted that in a joint meeting with President Ahmadinejad they discussed current regional and international issues, particularly the issues related to Near East and Africa.

President Rahmon called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other international institutions to help to restore peace and Security to Afghanistan and its economic development.
