The Minister of Energy and Industry of Tajikistan Gul Sherali and Chinese TBEA Company management discussed the possibility of accelerating work on the construction of the Dushanbe-2 thermal power station at a meeting in Dushanbe on January 21, Asia-Plus news agency reported, referring to the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Tajikistan.
It is expected that the first unit of the capital's TPP-2 with a capacity of 50 MW will be commissioned in autumn this year. The total capacity of the thermal power station is 200 MW.
Practical implementation of the project started in September last year. It was decided that the project will be financed on a 50 to 50 basis by two Chinese banks - "Ex-Im Bank" and the China Development Bank.
This company, as opposed to the capital's HPP-1, will work exclusively on coal reserves that Tajikistan has in large volumes.
TBEA is one of the largest manufacturers of electrical equipment and the largest manufacturer of transformers in China. TBEA products are exported to over 70 countries, including the U.S., Canada and Japan.
In Tajikistan, the company has implemented a number of projects in the energy sector. TBEA is one of the main suppliers of electrical equipment to the world's largest hydroelectric power station, the Three Gorges. TBEA's shares are listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
