China, having invested over $1 billion during the past two years in Tajikistan's economy, does not expect any political dividends, Tajik expert Vafo Niyatbekov said today.

"At present, China pursues a cautious policy," he said. "Huge financial investments in the economies of Central Asian countries do not require political impact."

He said that if there are still territorial issues, one could say that China may push them in the future, but these problems have been fully resolved. The demarcation and delimitation of borders are complete.

Niyatbekov said that at present, China is one of Tajikistan's major investors through its investments in global strategic projects.

"China is investing in major projects, but Tajikistan also has a number of projects that are becoming more and more attractive to Russia and several European countries," Niyatbekov said.

The expert said that one can not say that Tajikistan is not absolutely economically dependent on China.

It was previously reported that the Chinese company China Global intends to invest $500 million in the metallurgical plant construction.

Moreover, China's CNPC invested $260 million to construct the third line of the Uzbek part of the Central Asia - China gas pipeline worth $ 2.1 billion.
