Gold production in Tajikistan increased in 2012 by 7% up to 2.4 tons comparing to the previous year, CA-News reported on Thursday with reference to the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Tajikistan.
As mentioned during the press-conference in Dushanbe by the Minister of Energy and Industry of Tajikistan, Gul Sherali, in 2012 gold production amounted 2,400 kg.
Almost 63% of the gold mined in the past year accounts for the Tajik-Chinese joint company "Zarafshon", the minister stated.
According to the minister, gold mining productivity in the country during the next two years will increase up to 3 tons per year following the modernisation of the existing gold mining companies and creation of new ones.
