ADB, Tajikistan to rehabilitate head hydropower plant

The Asian development bank (ADB) and Tajikistan's government have signed a memorandum of mutual understanding on the project of Tajikistan's head hydropower plant's rehabilitation, Avesta.tj reported.
According to their source, the ADB is considering the allocation of a grant worth $116 million to this project.
It is planned that the ADB's board of directors will consider this proposal at the end of November, 2013.
This project is the first project on the large-scale rehabilitation of a hydropower plant in Tajikistan with the use of modern technologies.
The plant is situated on the Vakhsh River. The construction of it started in 1956 and it was put into operation in 1962.
