A meeting of "Water friend" group was held in the UN headquarter in New York on the initiative of Tajikistan's permanent representation in the organization with the support of International Center on Water Hazard and Risk Management, ICHARM/UNESCO, Avesta.tj reported on Wednesday.
In his session's opening speech, Tajikistan's representative Sirodjiddin Aslov mentioned that the event is organized to move forward the Tajik president's proposals on the importance of regular discussion of water natural hazards at the global level.
This initiative for the first time was introduced in Dushanbe on Aug. 20.
The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of permanent discussion of this issue at the UN General Assembly's sessions.
