Tajikistan's external debt amounted to $ 2.2 billion as of the end of the first half of 2014, Asia-Plus reported with the reference to Tajik Deputy Finance Minister Djamoliddin Nuraliev.

Thus, the external debt makes up 21.9 percent of the country's GDP, Djamoliddin Nuraliev said at the press conference on July 25.

"Public debt management was at the appropriate level in the first half of 2014, he said.

Tajikistan spent $67 million on the maintenance of the external debt and payments on it, including $51.3 million of payments of the principal debt and $15.7 million of interest payments in the first half of 2014.

The volume of domestic debt totaled 2.3 billion somoni ($1 = 4.999 somoni), or 4.7 percent of GDP as of July 1. Some 55 million somoni were spent on its maintenance.
Tajikistan's external debt amounted to $ 2,161,500,000 at the end of 2013 or 25.4 percent of GDP.
