The Working Group on Afghanistan under the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Foreign Ministers' Council held a meeting yesterday in Dushanbe, Avesta.tj news agency said Apr.4.

The meeting was chaired by Tajikistan, according to the information department of the ministry of foreign affairs of Republic of Tajikistan.

The meeting was attended by deputies secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, permanent representatives and national coordinators for Afghanistan under the CSTO Foreign Ministers' Council of member states of the organization.

Topical issues related to the current situation and the prospective of stabilization of the military and political situation in Afghanistan were discussed during the meeting.

In particular, the progress of implementation of events provided by the documents on Afghan issue adopted by the CSTO and the work plan of the Working Group on Afghanistan under the CSTO Foreign Ministers' Council for the second half of 2015 were discussed.

Following the meeting, a corresponding protocol was signed.

The Working Group on Afghanistan under the CSTO Foreign Ministers' Council was created to coordinate efforts to strengthen border security in Central Asia. The Working Group holds regular meetings to compare notes on the development of the situation.
