BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 21. Tajikistan's exports of cotton to Türkiye sharply declined from January through June 2022, Trend reports citing the Customs Service of Tajikistan.
According to statistics, Tajikistan in the first half of this year exported 12,152 tons of cotton to Türkiye, which is more than a twofold decrease compared to the same period of 2021 (26,788 tons).
The total value of cotton exports from Tajikistan to Türkiye in the reporting period decreased by 29.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year ($44.3 million) - to $31.1 million.
Notably, Tajikistan from January through June 2022 exported 57,832 tons of cotton worth $159.9 million. The main importing countries of Tajik cotton in the reporting period were: Iran ($58.6 million), Türkiye ($31.1 million) and Uzbekistan ($17.3 million).
Overall, the value of Tajik exports to Türkiye from January through June 2022 reached $113.3 million, which is a decrease of 2.9 percent compared to $116.7 million in the same period of last year.
