Turkmen, Uzbek presidents discuss cooperation priorities

Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov and Islam Karimov discussed the priority issues of the two countries’ cooperation over the phone, confirming the sides’ continued intention to further deepen and strengthen efficient relations in all directions, the Turkmen government said.

Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov and
Islam Karimov discussed the priority issues of the two countries' cooperation over the phone, confirming the sides' continued intention to further deepen and strengthen efficient relations in all directions, the Turkmen government said.

The presidents stressed progressive dynamics of development of bilateral relations based on the solid foundation of friendship, good neighborliness and the principles of equal and mutually beneficial cooperation.

The report says that emphasizing "the constructive nature of intergovernmental political dialogue," the interlocutors stressed "the existence of solid mutual potential and wide opportunities for the intensification of trade and economic partnership, optimal realization of which meets interests of prosperity of the two fraternal peoples".

The presidents stood for expansion of the fruitful contacts in the humanitarian sphere and expressed confidence that "relying on the inviolable traditions of friendship and mutual goodwill, the Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation will further continue successfully".

The sides also exchanged views on regional and international policy issues of mutual interest.

According to the Turkmen government, the Turkmen leader invited the Uzbek counterpart to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time.

This invitation was accepted with gratitude. Date of the visit will be arranged through diplomatic channels.
