President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov received the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who arrived on a working visit to Ashgabat, the Turkmen government said on Wednesday.
"The UAE is deeply interested in the comprehensive development of a fruitful dialogue with Turkmenistan established in recent years, which successfully realizes a unique, distinctive model of state development," Al Nahyan said.
Berdimuhammadov said at the meeting that "deepening of relations with Arab countries, including with the UAE, is one of the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy".
The two states cooperate in the energy sector, investment, urban development and trade spheres.
It also reported that Berdimuhammadov conveyed his invitation to the UAE president, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time.
In turn, the UAE Foreign Minister invited the Turkmen leader to visit the UAE. Dates of the visit will be arranged through diplomatic channels.
The parties "expressed willingness to steadily build productive partnerships and confidence that the good relations of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries will only boost".
The UAE is well represented on the Turkmen market. This country's companies are involved mainly in oil and gas sector at present.
Dragon Oil operates in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea under the PSA. Petrofac is the contractor on a project to develop the country's largest gas fields in South-Yolotan in the Mary region. Mubadala Company is in talks with top managers of the Turkmen Fuel and Energy Complex on prospects of cooperation in the Caspian Sea.
