President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov invited the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to visit Turkmenistan on an official visit at a convenient time for him, the Turkmen government said on Saturday.

President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov invited the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to visit Turkmenistan on an official visit at a convenient time for him, the Turkmen government said on Saturday.

"The invitation was accepted with gratitude. Date of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels," the information said.

The two countries have intensified their cooperation in recent years. The volume of bilateral trade increased by 2.6 times in 2011 compared to 2010 and amounted to $210.3 million.

There are 15 enterprises with participation of Belarusian capital at present in Turkmenistan, the country registered 13 investment projects with participation of Belarusian companies totaling $1 billion 123 million.

A key project is a major project to build aplant for the production of potash fertilizer with capacity of from 1 to 1.5 million tons per year, which is carried out by JSC Belgorkhimprom.

The automotive and agricultural machinery of Minsk automobile and tractor plants regularly delivered to Turkmenistan. About 6000 citizens of Turkmenistan have been studying in in various regions of Belarus.
