Turkmenistan appoints heads of national TV channels

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov signed a number of decrees appointing heads of national TV channels of the State Committee for TV/Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography of the country.
Maksat Altayev has been appointed as director of "Altyn Asyr" TV channel, Begench Abayev has been appointed as director of "Yashlyk" TV channel, Byashim Atayev has been appointed as director of "Miras" TV channel and Yusup Bayramov has been appointed as director of "Turkmen ovazy" TV channel.
Earlier it was reported a special working group prepares the bill on "Mass media" in the Turkmen parliament, which will include an item " on the establishment of commercial television and print media".
All TV channels in Turkmenistan are state-owned. Earlier this year, the national television expanded the number of channels from "Yamal-200" satellite. Besides five channels - Altyn Asyr, Yashlyk, Miras, Turkmenistan and the Turkmen ovazy, two more channels Sport and Ashgabat appeared.
The governmental report earlier said that President Berdimuhammadov stressed the necessity to prepare interesting programs about significant events, achievements, benefits granted to the people and favorable conditions for the life of the Turkmen people.
