President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov expressed condolences to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over the earthquake in north-west of the country, which caused numerous human casualties and damage, Turkmen media outlets reported on Monday.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov expressed condolences to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over the earthquake in north-west of the country, which caused numerous human casualties and damage, Turkmen media outlets reported on Monday.

Berdimuhammadov also conveyed words of sincere sympathy and support for families and friends of those died and injured.

According to Iranian media outlets, an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted north-western Iran on Aug.11, which killed more than 300 people, while injuring over 2,000 others.

The epicenter was in the city of Ahar, Varzagan and Naris. About 115 villages were completely or partially destroyed as a result of the earthquake.

On Monday another earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richer scale hit Varzagan in Iranian East Azerbaijan Province. No data is available on casualties or damage.
