A delegation headed by the chair of the Majlis (the Turkmen Parliament) Akja Nurberdiyeva will pay a visit to the Republic of Turkey on September 7-8, the Turkmen government said today.

The purpose of the trip is to develop inter-parliamentary ties. A meeting is planned to be held with parliamentarians of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

The visit has been recently discussed at a government meeting in Ashgabat. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the fruitful exchange of experience in the field of law-making.

"We should pay particular attention to the experience of Turkish parliamentarians in resolving such important issues as the combination of national traditions and values of all mankind and strengthening the international legal framework for inter-state cooperation," the Turkmen leader said.

President Berdimuhamedov stressed that relations between the two countries are go back to the community coming from ancient historical and spiritual roots, common culture, traditions and language.

He added that inter-parliamentary cooperation is of great importance for the further development of positive, equal and mutually beneficial partnership.
