Turkmen president to visit Latvia

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will pay an official visit to Latvia on September 11-12, 2012, an official Turkmen source said today.
Several bilateral documents are planned to be signed following the upcoming Turkmen-Latvian high level talks.
The documents are aimed to further strengthen and develop the friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
The first meeting of the Turkmen-Latvian intergovernmental commission will be held n Riga on Sept. 10. A protocol will be signed following the meeting.
"The proposals put forward by the Latvian side, were carefully considered and agreed at the ministries and departments of the country," Turkmen Dovlet Haberleri state news agency reported.
The preparation was discussed at a government meeting. Speaking of the importance of strengthening the trade and economic relations with the Republic of Latvia, the Turkmen leader said that there is a huge potential and opportunities to intensify long-term partnership.
Stressing the importance of direct contacts between the concerned ministries and departments, as well as companies and enterprises of the two countries, the President drew attention to the challenges facing the joint intergovernmental commission.
