Turkmenistan plans to begin wheat harvesting in Akhal, Balkan, Mary and Lebap provinces on June 1 and in Dashoguz on June 12, the Turkmen Ministry of Agriculture said today.

'The grain growers have an important task to gather the ripe grain harvest speedily and without any loss', a statement said.

According to the state order, grain growers must collect 1.6 million tons of grain over an 860,000 hectare area using 1882 combine harvesters from such companies as John Deere, Case and Claas.

According to the president's decree, the state commission on grain harvest was established in Turkmenistan. More than 1.2 million tons of wheat was harvested in 2012. More than 1.3 million tons were collected in 2011 despite a drought year.

Turkmengallaonumleri Association was allowed to sell the surplus volume of the harvest in excess of domestic requirements on the foreign markets.
