Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, June 19 /Trend. Trend H. Hasanov /
Dovran Khodjamyradov was appointed Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Fisheries of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen government said on Wednesday.
According to the report, a corresponding decree was signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Turkmenistan is implementing the programme for the development of fisheries until 2030. Shortly before the adoption of the programme in 2011, the industry was struggling. As noted at the highest level, the lack of communication between fish farms and processing enterprises, their division from each other interfered with the achievement of high performance.
According to the programme, Turkmen fisheries will be modernised and provided with a modern infrastructure. At this stage, the leading company is the state-run Balkanbalyk Company which is involved in fishing in the Caspian Sea and processing of fishery products.
Turkmenistan, along with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Iran, borders the Caspian Sea which is rich in biological resources.
