By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend: Turkmenistan and Belarus signed a package of bilateral documents on cooperation in various fields, on Tuesday after summit talks in Ashgabat, according to a source close to the negotiations.

The signing ceremony was held as part of the official visit of the Belarusian President to Turkmenistan after his talks with Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Belarusian President's press service said that over the past five years the foreign trade turnover between Belarus and Turkmenistan increased fivefold, thanks to the high growth rates of the Belarusian exports. In 2012, bilateral trade volume exceeded $ 300 million.

Belarus' exports to Turkmenistan include tractors, trucks, road, construction and agricultural equipment, bicycles, trucks, tires, pharmaceuticals, chemical fibres, woodworking industry products and food products.

The realization of the contract between Belarusian Belgorhimprom OAO and the Turkmenhimiya State Concern is the largest joint project. This contract envisages the turn-key construction of the Garlyk mining and processing factory by the Belarusian specialists. The factory will produce potash fertilizers.
