Turkmen Ambassador to Venezuela appointed

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Nov. 6

By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend: Aksoltan Atayeva has been appointed Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Venezuela, according to a presidential decree issued on Wednesday.

At the same time Atayeva will continue performing the duties of Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations (New York, USA).

In recent years Turkmenistan has intensified cooperation with Latin American countries. In 2009 Ashgabat held negotiations with the leadership of Venezuela at the highest level.

The valuable experience of Venezuela which ranks first in oil reserves in Latin America, could find effective application in the implementation in Turkmenistan of projects in the fuel and energy complex requiring additional investments and the introduction of new technology.

Turkmenistan has intensified work on increasing hydrocarbon production and its supply to world markets by increasing the capacity of the processing industry including petrochemical production.

Ashgabat and Caracas also noted the broader prospects in the chemical, food and textile industries and agriculture. Earlier it was reported that Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is to visit Venezuela at the invitation of that country's leadership.
