Turkish businessmen are interested in strengthening their positions in the Turkmen market, the Chairman of Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges, Mustafa Rifat Hisarciklioglu said.

Hisarciklioglu, who is on a visit to Ashgabat, made the remarks at the meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, according to a message from the Turkmen government.

"Taking the opportunity, Hisarciklioglu once again underscored the deep interest of Turkish businessmen in strengthening their positions in the promising Turkmen market, which each year attracts a growing number of potential investors and companies from around the world," the message said.

Turkmen government also said that Hisarciklioglu conveyed greetings from Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who wished peace, stability and prosperity to the people of Turkmenistan.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for his part, underscored that Turkmenistan, pursuing the policy of 'open doors' and moving towards the broad international cooperation within universal interests, is always ready to consider new proposals from Turkish companies, many of which have proven to be reliable and responsible partners.

Hisarciklioglu presented information on the progress in a number of projects entrusted to Turkish companies in various fields. He also presented new proposals on partnership, which has a long and mutually beneficial basis.

In 2013, the trade turnover between the two countries stood at about $4,746 billion, increasing by over 38 percent in a year.

About 600 Turkish companies have been has registered in Turkmenistan.
