Mexican ambassador accredited in Turkmenistan

Chairman of the Majlis (parliament) of Turkmenistan Akja Nurberdieva has received the credentials of Mexico's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Turkmenistan (with residence in Ankara) Martha Elena Federica Barcena Coqui, a message from the government of Turkmenistan said on Oct.22.

During the meeting, the sides stressed that being an independent and neutral state, Turkmenistan aims to expand fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation will all states, including the Latin American countries.

Mexican diplomat expressed confidence that the intensely developing dialogue between Turkmenistan and Latin American countries will allow to ensure the overall peace and prosperity of the friendly people of Turkmenistan and Mexico.

During a meeting held at Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry, the sides exchanged views on the international policy, as well as the priorities in the trade and economic spheres.

They outlined the ways of expanding cooperation in the oil and gas and foreign economic spheres, in the spheres of science and innovative technologies, as well as health care, culture and tourism, the message from Turkmen government said.

Turkmenistan has intensified its cooperation with Latin American countries in recent years. Then President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez was the first among the heads of state of this continent who paid a visit to Ashgabat in late 2009.
