Credit institutions are carrying out the work in Turkmenistan to increase the volume of cashless payments in order to expand the use of banking cards in the country, the press-release of the Turkmen Central Bank said.
In the result, 1.758,113 million banking cards were registered in the processing centers of Turkmenistan as of Feb. 1, 2017, which is a 1.6 times increase compared to the same period last year, as well as 15,561 payment terminals (2.5 times increase), 2,019 ATMs (2 times increase).
Credit institutions of Turkmenistan have installed cashless payment terminals in different shopping centers and service centers, as well as for purchases of communication and health care services, car fuel, state insurance, railway and airline tickets, loans and interests on them via banking cards.
In addition, it has become possible to pay the fines imposed for traffic violations with the help of cashless payment terminals. The ATMs of the credit institutions of Turkmenistan installed in accessible and convenient places for the citizens of the country make it possible to cash out, pay for the mobile services, Internet, phone, IP-TV, as well as mortgage loans and interests.
