Set of Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental documents signed

A ceremony of signing Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental documents was held May 20 in the Congress Center of the Avaza tourist resort in Turkmenistan following the talks between the country’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Turkmenistan State News Agency reported.
A memorandum of understanding between the Turkmen Energy Ministry and Uzbekenergo JSC on transit and transmission of electricity, an agreement on cooperation in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development, a protocol on cooperation in the field of sports were signed in the presence of the two countries’ presidents.
The signed documents also included a memorandum of cooperation between the Turkmenistan Airlines and the Uzbekistan Airways, a memorandum of understanding between the Turkmennebit State Concern and the Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company.
The sides also signed an agreement on declaring Ashgabat and Tashkent as twin towns and the agreement on cooperation between the Seyitnazar Seidi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute and the Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami.
