The construction of modern airports will start soon in the Atamyrat city of Lebap Region and in the Garabogaz city of Balkan Region of Turkmenistan, a source in the Turkmen government said Oct. 14.
Each airport will have a capacity to serve 100 passengers per hour, according to the source.
These projects are envisaged in the current program of industrial development of the two regions.
Turkmenistan, which has a favorable geographical position, strengthens its position as an important transit and transport hub of regional and continental importance. In this regard, a major international airport in Ashgabat, which was commissioned a year ago, will be of great importance for the country.
Currently, Turkmenistan Airlines company carries out regular flights to many countries and the geography of flights is consistently expanding.
