Turkmenistan adopts 2018-state budget

The Parliament of Turkmenistan unanimiously adopted the draft law "On the state budget of Turkmenistan for 2018" at its plenary session Nov.25, the Turkmen government reported.

In general, the revenues of the 2018-state budget will amount to 95,508 billion manat, and the revenues will be in the same amount.

The official rate of manat to USD since January 2015 remains at the level of 3.50 Turkmen manats.

The revenue part of the budget will be formed, mainly, due to such important industries as oil and gas, chemical, electric power, construction.

The agro-industrial complex, the sphere of transport and communications, textile and food industry will also develop further.

The implementation of state programs, including the integrated industrialization of regions, the increase in the output volume of import-substituting and export products, and the strengthening of the private sector of the economy -all this will also ensure a progressive growth of budget revenues, the government reported.

A significant part of the expenditures is directed to the social sphere, including financing for education, health, culture, sports, the system of state social security, housing and communal services.

Significant funds are provided for the development of the Avaza tourist zone, the implementation of the town-planning program in the regions of the country, the construction of important socio-cultural facilities, industrial, transport and communications infrastructure.

There is also planned to increase the wages of workers, as well as pensions and state allowances, scholarships for students by ten per cent.

Turkmenistan occupies one of the key positions in the region in the supply of natural gas, which is exported to China and Iran. Russia in 2016 completely stopped buying Turkmen fuel.
