The foundation for the implementation of 148 of 169 objectives of Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by Turkmenistan in the medium term in three key strategic areas, namely, economy, social sphere and environmental safety, was laid in 2018.

“Turkmenistan became one of the first countries in the region which determined sustainable development priorities for itself for the next 15 years,” Elena Panova, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, said.

In June, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan signed a memorandum of understanding on joint cooperation in the mobilization of financing of development to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in Turkmenistan.
