Turkmen officials reveal progress on reforms in agro-industrial sector

Turkmenistan is working to implement reforms to improve its agro-industrial sector, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev said, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.
The issue was discussed during the working meeting with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, with Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev and Shamukhammet Durdylyev, who are in charge of agro-industrial sectors as well as construction work in the country.
Orazgeldiyev informed the president that cardinal reforms to improve the agro-industrial sector, increase agricultural production and create favorable conditions for farmers are carried out in the country.
In addition, all the measures to provide the citizens with vegetable and fruit products that are grown in Turkmenistan are taken, he said.
The president stressed that country's main task in mentioned sector is to increase the pace of work carried out in this direction and constantly provide food products to the domestic markets of the country.
Shamukhammet Durdylyev spoke about improving the activities of subordinate structures. According to him, the country is working on the production of the necessary amount of mineral fertilizers for the agricultural industry. Information was also provided about the reached progress in modernization of production facilities specializing in manufacturing of fertilizers.
President Berdimuhamedov noted that it is necessary to implement a digital system in the country's agricultural sector and outlined the tasks that need to be solved.
Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev was instructed oversee increase of production of potatoes, onions and other vegetable and fruit products in the country.
The head of state instructed to ensure the purchase of potatoes, onions and melons from producers in the regions, as well as timely settlements with them.
The president also instructed Shamukhammet Durdylyev to provide mineral fertilizers to the country's agricultural sector.
