Turkmen company aims to increase harvest of new variety potatoes

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 22

Turkmenistan’s Gozly agricultural company plans to grow and receive some 60 tons of potatoes per hectare from an experimental site by early June, Trend reports with reference to Business Turkmenistan information portal.

The company uses technologies of the German EUROPLANT Pflanzenzucht GmbH company.

Aside from potatoes, Gozly was allocated by 2,500 hectares of land for long-term use for growing cotton and corn.

As for potatoes, the company aims to expand the fields for growing, as it received 900 tons of potatoes from 15 hectares of land last year.

This year, the company aims not only to receive a harvest of new varieties of potatoes, but also to expand the harvest fields.

The company's structure also includes other subsidiaries, which include a confectionery company, a workshop for freezing vegetables and fruits, cooling and storage facilities and a plant for manufacturing of metal containers with capacity of 75 million products per year.
