Turkmenistan, China identify priority areas of cooperation in oil, gas sector

Turkmenistan and China have identified priority areas of cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, oil and gas, telecommunications, healthcare, science, education and culture, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The mentioned topic was discussed during videoconference between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of China and Turkmenistan. The Chinese side was represented by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Yucheng and the Turkmen side was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiev.

The parties spoke about the importance of organizing meetings at the highest levels, in particular the cooperation within the international organizations was noted. Also, the participants agreed to make efforts to hold a meeting of Turkmen-Chinese Cooperation Committee in the near future.

The sides also discussed the COVId-19 pandemic situation in the world. In this regard, the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the use of scientific diplomacy in the fight against the spread of coronavirus in the world was emphasized.

Generally, Turkmenistan and China have been cooperating in oil and gas sectors for a long time. Over 300 billion cubic meters of natural gas were exported to China via the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China (Central Asia–China gas pipeline) pipeline in 10 years.
