During the videoconference, the parties discussed issues related to Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO, as well as the necessary steps that are needed to be taken from the Turkmen side, as an observer in the WTO.

In this regard, the sides noted that obtaining observer status for Turkmenistan is an important step towards joining the WTO. This status will help the country prepare for joining the organization as a full member.

The participants also discussed issues related to the continuation of work to enhance Turkmenistan's cooperation with the WTO and further strengthen the bilateral partnership with this organization.

Turkmenistan received observer status in the WTO on July 22, 2020 during a meeting in Geneva. The country applied for observer status in the WTO in May 2020.

A special government commission has been established in Turkmenistan to follow up the issues of Turkmenistan's accession to the World Trade Organization.
