The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan with Turkmenistan from January through August 2021 reached $418.1 million, increasing by more than 23.6 percent on an annualized basis, Trend reports with reference to Business Turkmenistan.
According to the report of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the trade turnover between the two countries for the same period last year amounted to more than $338.4 million.
It is reported that Uzbekistan in 8M2021 imported Turkmen products worth $297.6 million. At the same time, the country's exports to Turkmenistan amounted to $120.5 million.
Earlier, the Uzbek-Turkmen intergovernmental commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian cooperation during its 16th meeting in Tashkent expressed its readiness to bring the volume of Uzbek-Turkmen trade to $1 billion in the near future.
It was also reported that the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in 2020 amounted to $527 million.
