Turkmenistan to open section of new high-speed highway

Turkmenistan will open the Ashgabat-Tejen road, which is a section of the high-speed Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal.

According to the information, the construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway worth $2.3 billion began on January 24, 2019. It is carried out by Turkmen Awtoban closed joint stock company.

The construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway with a length of 600 km is being carried out in three stages. It is reported that the highway will have eight lanes, three main and one additional on each side. The width of the roadbed will amount to 35 meters.

In addition, along the entire highway, it is planned to build a central traffic control station and four recreation areas, four bridges over rivers, four bridges over the railway, 22 bridges at intersections with other highways, 76 underground pedestrian crossings and a special passage for animals, water collectors over mudflows, road junctions and other objects.

Also, it is planned to build 10 stations for the maintenance of the high-speed track.

It was reported that the full implementation of the project should be completed by 2023. It is expected that the high-speed highway, which in the future will connect the capital and the eastern region of Turkmenistan, will significantly increase the throughput of the country's road system, the quality and efficiency of logistics services, expand the international transport and transit infrastructure and trade and economic relations with neighboring states.
