Turkmenistan registers increase in loans issued to population

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 4

The loans worth 78.9 billion Turkmen manat ($22.6 billion) were issued by the local credit institutions to the enterprises, organizations and the population as of February 2022, which is by 11.9 percent more than in February 2021, Trend reports from reference to Business Turkmenistan online newspaper.

The loans worth 70.5 billion manat ($20.2 billion) were issued as of February 2021.

According to the data of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the loans worth 54.3 billion manat ($15.5 billion) were issued to the state institutions and enterprises as of February 1, 2022, which is by 4.4 percent more than as of February 1, 2021. Such loans reached 51.9 billion manat ($14.8 billion) in 2021.

Moreover, according to the statistics of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the loans worth 8.9 billion Turkmen manat ($2.5 billion) were issued to the private sector of the country as of February 1, 2022, which is by 64.6 percent more than as of February 1, 2021 (5.4 billion manat $1.5 billion).

The loans worth 15.7 billion Turkmen manat ($4.5 billion) were issued to the citizens and businessmen engaged in entrepreneurial activity without creating a legal entity as of February 1, 2022, which is by 19.74 percent more than as of February 1, 2021 (13.9 billion manat $3.9 billion).
