BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. Awaza State Electric Power station operating near the city of Turkmenbashi in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan is increasing electricity production, Trend reports with reference to Jeyhun News.

The power plant produced 324.2 million kWh of electric energy from January through April 2022. This is 24.2 million kWh more than in the same period last year.

At the same time, the plan for the production of electric energy has been exceeded by 8 percent.

As it became known, this power plant is important in providing electric energy not only to the western region but also to the whole country.

Turkmenistan is actively integrating into the unified energy system of Central Asia and plays an important role in creating additional opportunities for further increasing the volume of supplies.

The country will increase electricity exports by 8.7 percent by 2025 and this will be facilitated by the construction of new power plants, transmission lines, modern transformer substations and distribution facilities.

Currently, Turkmen's electricity is supplied to Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
