BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. Turkmenistan has disclosed data on the area of land sown with winter wheat, Trend reports citing the Turkmenistan Golden Age online newspaper.

Some 690,000 hectares have been sown with winter wheat in the country this year, from which 1.4 million tons of grain are planned to be harvested, including 400,000 tons in the Ahal region, 310,000 in Lebap, 345,000 in Mary, 265,000 in Dashoguz and 80,000 tons in the Balkan region. At the moment, wheat is being harvested.

In order to ensure the smooth operation of agricultural machinery, work is underway to provide it with fuel and lubricants and spare parts.

Agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. This is one of the most important sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan.

The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, melon, fruit, and berry crops.
