BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 19. Turkmenistan stands for the realization and unification of the transport potential of the countries of the region in order to create a modern infrastructure capable of uniting the transport systems of Asia, Europe and the Middle East, Trend reports citing Orient news.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Turkmendemiryollary Agency (Turkmenistan Railways) Azat Atamuradov at the conference "International Transport and Transit Corridors: interconnection and development".
According to him, Turkmenistan is carrying out systematic work to transform Central Asia into a modern, combined, highly efficient transport hub, combining efforts to develop transit corridors and logistics.
For this purpose, a working group was created at the government level in Turkmenistan to study the possibilities of forming new transport, transit and communication routes, the head of the agency noted.
"Work is actively underway on the practical implementation of previously agreed routes, including the international transport and transit corridors Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman-Qatar and Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-the Caspian Sea," Atamuradov said.
He noted that the Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran railway was built and put into operation as part of the North-South international transport corridor, thanks to which one of the container lines from China was launched.
