BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. The volume of natural gas imports from Turkmenistan by the Russian energy company Gazprom has been published by the results of 2021, Trend reports citing the Business Turkmenistan news agency.
During the reporting period, Gazprom imported 10.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan.
According to the contract that Gazprom and the Turkmengas State Concern signed on July 1, 2019, for a period of five years – until June 30, 2024, the volume of Turkmen gas supplies is up to 5.5 billion cubic meters per year.
The issues of purchasing Turkmen natural gas under the current contract and expanding cooperation in this area on a long-term basis were discussed at the meeting of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller at the end of August this year.
Turkmenistan ranks among the world's leading countries in terms of oil and gas reserves. Its gas reserves have increased by 126 billion cubic meters as a result of the industrial development of recently discovered gas fields.
