BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 26. Russia plans to build a container terminal with a capacity of 1 million tons of cargo per year in the special economic zone of the Astrakhan region as part of the project to create a logistics center of Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

According to the information, several sites have been identified in the port special economic zone near the 8th and 9th berths of the Olya port for the construction of facilities for the transshipment of containers, grain and oil.

Meanwhile, the development of a roadmap for the implementation of the project to launch the logistics center of Turkmenistan will be part of a large joint work of expert groups of the two countries.

The memorandum on the establishment of the logistics center of Turkmenistan and the cooperation agreement was signed by Deputy General Director of Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan JSC Merdan Byashimov, and head of Lotos JSC Sergey Milushkin, within the framework of the Turkmen-Russian business forum, which was held in the capital of Turkmenistan Ashgabat on January 19 through 20.
