Turkmenistan Buys Agro Machinery worth US 55 Mln from Case of USA

(nCa) - Turkmenistan agreed Tuesday to buy 320 units of agricultural machinery from Case Corporation of USA.

Total value of the order is US $ 55 million. The machinery includes 220 plowing tractors and 100 cotton pickers, reports Trend.

The agreement was signed during a meeting between President Niyazov and Michael Edmondson, President of the international region agricultural business of CNH. Edmondson is based in Italy.

Heads of ten major associations of Turkmenistan the main users of Case machinery were present during the signing ceremony.

Turkmenistan is already using more than 4000 units of Case machinery. Turkmenistan is the largest buyer of Case machinery in the Central Asian region.

After the signing ceremony, Edmondson spoke briefly to nCa. Here is the transcript of his talk:

The contract is 55 million dollars. It is made up of two tranches 220 plowing tractors, big tractors, MX 255 Case IH tractors. This is the family of tractors that has been hugely successful here in Turkmenistan. And, we are very honoured for the purchases to continue. We value very much our relationship here in Turkmenistan. We support the development of agriculture here.

Second tranche of the order is 100 cotton pickers. This is Case IH cotton picker family that has also been very successful here in Turkmenistan. Again, we are very honoured that His Excellency [the president] has decided to purchase Case IH equipment again.

The delivery plan for the tractors is - - we hope to get them delivered before the end of this year. And we hope to get the first few delivered as soon as possible. And the cotton pickers would be delivered well in time for the cotton picking season next year.
