Turkmenistan's president discusses further cooperation with Siemens representatives

(turkmenistan.ru) - President Saparmurat Niyazov received chairman of the managing board of Siemens Heinrich von Pierer and member of managing board Rudi Lamprecht.

During the meeting, the head of state noted that Siemens is a long-standing and reliable partner of independent Turkmenistan. The company has installed state-of-the-art equipment practically in all large medical centers and clinics of Turkmenistan, the State news service (TDH) said. Highly estimating the level of the long mutually advantageous partnership, Saparmurat Niyazov emphasized that it remains the priority area in implementing a large-scale program of reforms in the national healthcare sector, reports Trend.

In turn, Dr. Heinrich von Pierer noted that Turkmenistan has made a breakthrough in the sphere of healthcare, not least owing to the use of latest medical equipment. In his opinion, Turkmen hospitals have the same standard of technology that is available in the best clinics in Germany and the United States. The guest proposed to continue cooperation within the framework of the programme "Tele-medicine and electronic healthcare".

Discussing the prospects for further increase in partnership, the sides confirmed mutual aspiration to establish cooperation in the fuel-energy sphere. The head of state briefed the guests in detail on the programme of efficient use of natural resources implemented currently in Turkmenistan that provides for the establishment of a system of multiple routes for exports of Turkmen energy carriers to the world market, including European direction.

In response, the German visitors confirmed that "in Europe they are waiting for Turkmen gas", noting that Turkmenistan is very attractive in terms of giant energy potential. Having expressed readiness to take active part in implementing this part of cooperation, representatives of Siemens said the company would be interested in supplying turbines, compressors and the latest electronic equipment for the energy projects in Turkmenistan.

Saparmurat Niyazov suggested that German partners consider a possibility of joining the projects on exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea as well as in production of liquefied gas on the basis of production sharing agreement. The guests expressed confidence that they would evaluate all the proposals, including within the framework of the forthcoming visit to Ashgabat of an official delegation headed by the minister of foreign affairs of Germany.
