Russian foreign minister to arrive in Ashgabat on Thursday

(AP) - The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will arrive in Ashgabat on a working visit on April 5. He will discuss issues of bilateral cooperation, first of all economic issues, with the leadership of Turkmenistan. According to Lavrov, he will also visit Russian schools and theatres.

As part of the visit the Russian minister will meet Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov and his counterpart Rashid Meredov. As the Russian Foreign Minister said at a meeting in Kremlin, in Ashgabat he will hold talks on the issues, which have been raised during Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov's visit to the Turkmen capital in February, and the ideas put forward by Russian President Vladimir Putin in his message to the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov.

"The Russian side considers it necessary to undertake a number of additional steps to make economic relations more stable and steady, to more fully use the two countries' available rich potential for it, ITAR TASS quotes the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman.
