Uzbekistan, China to discuss cooperation in legislation

A Chinese parliamentary delegation headed by Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Chairman Wu Bangguo has launched a four-day visit to Uzbekistan, a source in the Uzbek government reported.

Wu Bangguo will visit Uzbekistan for the first time upon the invitation of Speaker of the Uzbek Senate Ilgizar Sabirov and Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Dilor Tashmukhamedova.

The source said the visit is of great importance for the development of partnerships between the two countries and further deepening of the cooperation in various fields.

The Chinese delegation will hold talks with leaders of the Uzbek parliamentary chambers and discuss the prospects of cooperation in the field of law.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov is also expected to receive Wu Bangguo.

China and Uzbekistan established a strong partnership, friendship and cooperation. They continuously deepen political mutual trust.

China is the largest investor in Uzbekistan with a total investment of $4 billion. The country is one of the largest trading partners of Uzbekistan. The volume of bilateral trade amounted to $2.48 billion in 2010. About 200 enterprises operate with Chinese capital in Uzbekistan.
