The last groups of pilgrims who performed the hajj to Mecca and Medina, returned to Uzbekistan, Uzbek Committee for Religious Affairs said.

The committee said all this year 5,094 pilgrims performed the hajj, including 15 of them free of charge.

The "Haj-2011" season in the year of the 20th anniversary of Independence of Uzbekistan was held in organized manner, with no incidents and events, the committee said.

Comfortable and safe travel, stay in Saudi Arabia and return of pilgrims to their homeland are ensured by well coordinated efforts of the Committee for Religious Affairs, Interior Ministry, State Customs Committee, Ministry of Health, the National Airline of Uzbekistan, as well as Muslims Board .

There are over 2,220 religious organizations registered in the country, belonging to 16 confessions. Over 90 percent are Muslim organizations.
