President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree "On measures to further deepen the reform of the health system", which defines industry trends for the period 2012 - 2015 period.
According to the document published in the national media in Uzbekistan, the main directions of the program are to ensure the widespread availability and quality of primary health care to the population, especially in rural areas, to improve the efficiency of diagnostic and ambulatory care facilities, disease prevention and health protection, management republican specialized medical centers improvement with the introduction of modern methods of institutional and financial management, to strengthen their material and technical base, strengthening of preventive measures and the reliability of protection against viral and infectious diseases, to strengthen logistics base of cancer and antituberculous services, and improved protection of maternal and child health, to streamline operations and licensing of private health facilities.
It is decided to optimize the network and bedspace of stationary health institutions, financed from the budget in 2012-2015 to implement the tasks provided in Presidential Decree.
