An Uzbek delegation will attend upcoming events of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

The fourth extraordinary session of the OIC at the high level will be held in Mecca on Aug.14-15, 2012.

It is expected that presidents of the OIC member countries will assemble in Mecca at the invitation of Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al Saud.

The conference participants will discuss the situation in the Islamic countries.

The summit will be preceded by a meeting at the level of foreign ministers in preparation for the high-level meeting.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the Uzbek delegation left for Jeddah on Sunday. The Foreign Ministry did not specify the composition of the delegation.

Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations with 40 countries in the Middle East and Africa. The Republic has diplomatic missions in 12 countries in the region, and embassies of 14 countries of the Middle East have been opened in Tashkent.

Uzbekistan is actively developing its relations with the Arab and Muslim world within international and regional organizations such as OIC, the League of Arab States (LAS) and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
