Uzbek President Islam Karimov on Friday presented state awards to athletes who won prizes at the Olympic Games in London, the National Information Agency (UzA)reported.

In accordance with the decree of the President Rishod Sobirov and Soslan Tigiyev, who won the bronze medals are awarded honorary title Uzbekistan iftihori (Pride of Uzbekistan), Abbos Atoev - honorary title Honored Sportsman of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the London Olympic champion Artur Taymazov, who won a third gold medal, awarded with order El-yurt Khurmatu.

Presenting the awards, the Uzbek President expressed gratitude to all the athletes, their coaches and mentors who participated in the Olympics.

Fourteen Uzbek athletes were among the eight strongest in their sports, in addition to four athletes, who won the medals in London.

The President noted that the objective of everyone and especially of the sport community and decision-makers of sports sphere is to seriously prepare for the XXXI Summer Olympic Games to be held in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

It is necessary to deeply analyze the results of the London Olympics and make conclusions.

"We need to pay special attention to the study of the experience of States that have achieved the best results in the Olympics. This work must begin today," Karimov said.

The President also presented gilded statue of the wrestler to Artur Taymazov.
